We’ve been pleasantly surprised to find that the restaurant scene in Shanghai is awesome! We’ve already been to several different places (never the same place twice) and are keeping a list of yummy restaurants we’d take people when they come visit.

Mi Tierra– Mexican restaurant and Taco bar. It’s one of my favorite places so far. Good mexican food is hard to come by here, so we were all ecstatic to find this place. A very cool space too. The above pic is our appetizer course, which was followed by some great tacos and AMAZING desserts.

This pic is from Bellagio cafe, a chain here with pretty good food. We go get late-night dessert here pretty often. The above pic is one of the most popular items, a huge mound of shaved ice! In the background is our new friend Austin, who just moved to Shanghai from NYC (but his family lives here). He’s opening a new restaurant in less than 2 months and we can’t wait! We’re so thankful we get all his input on the best restaurants in Shanghai and we love when he orders for the table. Yum!
Most restaurant posts to follow soon. Wo uh le. (I’m hungry)
I want that giant mountain of sugar!!!! nom nom nom
ohmigod, i was just about to write the same thing lauren did about the shaved iced. well, without the nom nom nom.
I’d prefer the guacamole and chips over the mountain of sugar anyday! Who raised Weslie and Lauren anyway?
Dad got the latest blog entries checked out before I did, so I’m here trying to catch up. We just got back from dim sum at Waikoloa. We had some complimentary very kosher pickley tasting cucumber (chopped irregularly). Quite tasty. Also, something we’d never heard of before. It was Schezwan & some sort of pickled veggie with a mellow kick to it. Anxious to hear about all your food adventures. Why am I kind of suprised to learn about the Mexican restaurant? How is the dim sum in Shanghai?
Onto the apt. pix.
You need the places to take other expats and the places to take US friends
Dim sum is definitely something I want to read about.
Starbucks, IKEA, mexican food - are you sure you’re not still in Calif.?
Ha! Finally figured out how to message you. Have enjoyed all your comments and pics. Glad you are having a good time and enjoying ALL your experiences. Keep them coming.
It’s great that you get to have a long (how many days?) holiday so soon after you arrive.
Can you receive e-mail via your e-address? Are you in need of care package? What about snail mail? Is it better to mail to your apt. address. P.O. box or c/o Rob’s work address?
Save your skin. Use disposable gloves and lots of aquaphor.
We’re still not 100% sure how the mail works here. Rob’s parents are doing a couple of trial runs, so we’ll let you know if it works!
